Three days had passed since his encounter with Faust Smith, a man that was aspiring to work for the King. After Costa was able to evaluate the man’s strength, he sent a recommendation to the council the same day. Now he had received an answer and would have to meet the man to deliver the message.
It was another cold, misty day in the city, the disgrace of the common workers could be felt in the air. Worn out faces looked up at Costa will all kinds of hateful thoughts, he was sure. Costa walked through the streets, having almost reached his destination.
With him walked Gano, a local Ordernary in charge of that area of residence, surely a familiar face to the man they were visiting. Costa could understand the man didn’t instinctively confront Gano, and preferred to look for a better challenge. Not that he really did have one in the end. The man ending up being his target had seemed pretty angry when he left the scene that day. Later, he was dismissed from his job as Ordernary for having failed in controlling the situation and being unable to win against a lower class.
“We’re here, sir.”
Gano stopped and stepped out of the way for Costa to reach for the door and knock.
“Ok. Be sure to keep quiet as I speak to him and only talk if asked to. Keep in mind that in my presence, you are being evaluated at all times."
Gato nodded at Costa’s words without further comment. Costa sighed as he waited for a sign coming from the other side of the door. Costa hoped the man was home, he wasn’t in the best mood to go hunt him down. If necessary, he’d send out Gano to do it for him, but it would surely be bothersome.
